For anyone thrilled by the sight of Julie Andrews spinning joyfully on a mountaintop, or who spontaneously bursts out singing “Do-Re-Mi,” this captivating behind-the-scenes story is a must-read. The summer of 1965 saw the release of one of the best-loved musicals of all time: The Sound of Music. This scrapbook celebrates that classic film, and the seven young actors who played the Von Trapp children and became long-lasting friends. Fans will love glimpsing photographs of rare memorabilia the performers have cherished, including letters to their families, an edited page from the script, and a ticket to the world premiere. The actors share their memories of working with director Robert Wise and stars Julie Andrews and Christopher Plummer, the impact the film had on their lives, and what they have done since. The Sound of Music Family Scrapbook is an intriguing look at the magic of moviemaking.

The memories I have of attending a showing of "Sound of Music" are as clear today as when I first saw the film as a teenager. So it was with great anticipation that I purchased the "Sound of Music Family Scrapbook" by Fred Bronson. WOW!! I had expected lots of background information and photos, but I had no idea it contained so many replicas of documents germane to the film and its stars. It's so much fun to explore each and every item. I haven't had a chance to watch the DVD yet, but I can only imagine it will enhance the whole experience. I particularly like the writing. Mr. Bronson writes in a style that is descriptive yet not overly emotional or trite. His words were very informative and really touched on the feelings of these young stars. The respect they have for one another is palpable. If you are a fan of the movie, either old enough to have seen it in the theatres, or in your childhood on TV you MUST have this book. It's just so much fun!!
